If you have already qualified in a foreign country as master, chief officer or chief engineer, you can take an examination which will lead to receiving a Maritime Legislation and Public Authority Certificate, thus enabling you to obtain a Dutch certificate of competency.

A requirement for passing the examination is the ability to speak and read (nautical) English well. Examinees are permitted to consult the Summary of Statutory Regulations and Amendments during the examination. However, it is essential that they thoroughly study this publication prior to the examination. The summary can be downloaded from our website.

The examination takes 60 minutes max. and is administered in oral form in English by two examiners.
