Course program:
SAFETY INTRODUCTION
- minimum knowledge concerning:
- overview of offshore oil and gas activities (formations, search for oil/gas, drilling installations, accommodations, ships);
- explanation of offshore hazards and control measures (dangerous substances, enclosed spaces, electricity, noise, H2S, radiation, extraordinary weather conditions, outboard activities);
- environmental aspects (waste, spills);
- health & safety responsibilities e.g. OIM, supervisors and individuals);
- health & safety management system e.g., PTW, JSA, TRA, accident incident reporting;
- legislation offshore (law, regulations);
- social behavior e.g. good housekeeping, personal hygiene, availability of personal protective equipment
FIRST AID
- basic knowledge of first aid;
- basic knowledge of hypothermia
HELICOPTER SAFETY
- to familiarize with procedures in relation to helicopter safety in various stages of the flight;
- before boarding,
- boarding,
- during the flight,
- disembarking;
- explanation and demonstration of helicopter transportation suit and aviation life vest,
- emergency equipment on board, emergency exits;
- preparation for an emergency landing;
- dry emergency landing;
- wet emergency landing.
HUET
- extension theoretical knowledge as mentioned above, essential for escape from a helicopter on or under water;
- evacuation from the helicopter;
SURVIVAL AT SEA
- donning a life jacket;
- assembling at a muster point;
- abandon platform techniques;
- individual and group survival techniques and rescue techniques;
- use of helicopter sling and position during hoisting;
FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE FIGHTING
- principles of fire prevention and fire fighting;
- fire classifications;
- overview of fire causes at an installation;
- alarms;
- detection systems;
- fixed extinguishing systems;
- correct use of fire extinguishers;
- correct use of hose reel and fire blanket;
- use of escape masks; escape from smoke filled areas.
SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES
- mustering;
- conventional and free-fall lifeboat: boarding, fastening;
- being hoisted with sling and application of rescue techniques;
- donning a life jacket (permanent buoyancy) and immersion / helicopter transportation suit;
- individual and group survival techniques;
- use of various personal descending systems;
- use of Personal Protective Equipment and life-saving devices.
FIRE FIGHTING
- extinguishing a small class A and class B fire with a hand held extinguisher;
- correct use of a fire blanket and a hose reel;
- escaping from a smoke filled area with the use of an escape mask.
HUET Module
- use of personal protective equipment (immersion / helicopter transportation suit life jacket ,etc.);
- inflating a life jacket in the water;
- using a spray hood;
- use of helicopter liferaft;
- EBS (Emergency Breathing System) familiarization.
- abandoning helicopter in various situations:
- floating on the water
- upright under water without EBS without windows
- capsized under water with EBS without windows
- upright under water with EBS without /with windows
- capsized under water with EBS without /with windows
